441 E 57TH STREET
NEW YORK, NY
NEW YORK, NY
This new building, built on a narrow city lot, plays with the concept of a vertical row-house, "brick" and facade . Taking the modular language of brick, it re-translates a glass facade with a modular frit pattern (designed to be seamless across all panels) to challenge the definition of aesthetic. As a vertical townhouse, the elevator serves as the city sidewalk, connecting the multi-leveled units within. The thick bands on the exterior denote the units housed within the building.
